little drawings

I have been pouring over the "Black Apple Paper Doll Primer" and old childrens primers from the 50s.

I love old elementary school books. Primers from the 40s and 50s seem to be the most interesting.

Well, last night I got a drawing bug (when I should have been doing other things...) and decided to just draw draw draw for the rest of the evening. Here are some of the winners. (Not the best scans, funny how lines magically show up or go away when you scan something!)

goodbye princess hair

Tonight after work I went thrift shopping with a dear friend. We bought things for fall and I went as far as winter. I got a grey wool coat that happened to have leather thinsulate gloves in the pockets! I had $40 in a ziplock bag for shopping. I only spent $27. One coat (and gloves), 2 sweaters (one wool and one cotton with a hood!), a boring gray skirt and a funky dress with a peepee stain that I got marked down from $7.99 to $1.99! (it is most likely not peepee but coffee or food that fell on a previous owners lap).
We ate delicious shrimp and green beans with rice while watching Storage Wars and Project Runway.
I have been wanting to cut my hair. I am sick of the knots and just sick of it. I wanted to see if I could have mermaid hair, and I did. Well... Emily happens to be in hair school and I told her she could cut it when I was ready... I let her husband cut my pony tail off, then she fixed it all up. I no longer have long hair. It is wonderful. I am looking forward to how much easier this hair will be. I took a shower and washed my hair. It was so much easier. I can let it dry with out a towel over my shoulders or wrapped around my head to keep my clothes dry. This is kind of amazing. I miss having short(er) hair.

Get this!?!! Eggs can have white yolks. Yes, you read that right. I guess they are safe and fine to eat. Some Amish eggs at work have been like that... I want an egg with a white yolk!

glow teeth

Tonight I had a wonderful dinner after work with friends outside at their home. Fancy pasta, the kind with black stripes (from squids!). I wish I would have taken a picture.

I sewed 4 more zipper pouches.

I made a lot of glow teeth. Some are necklace charms, some will end up in jars.

I decided to put the light switch covers on the back burner for now. The outdoor mod podge is drying tacky, I don't know if the humidity affected that.  I haven't used it before. I don't know if adding regular mod podge over it or acrylic gel medium will remedy the situation, or make it worse. I am not going to just give it a shot and sell it, in case it ends up gross (like a tacky dust/dirt magnet).

switch plate covers

This evening I made a tote bag, a pencil case, 2 velcro pockets, one zipper pouch and a drawstring bag. I also started decorating some light switch covers. Imagine how much I could make if life was always right before a craft fair...

The picture shifted over about a 3rd of the way down. I don't know why my phone does funny things to my pictures.  I have decided to accept it, like light leaks and double exposures on film.

eggs.

If you aren't sure how fresh the eggs in your fridge are, try a simple float test. All you need is a glass of water and your egg in question...
