I am trying to draw more and make more finished images. I will try to post them on here as I do. That will maybe help light a little fire under my butt about it too.
I drew this for my sister (Hi Camille!) for her birthday.
When she was little (like 3) she would talk about "when I was a giraffe…" and the things she would say just really made sense, were real giraffe things, and she just said it so casually and confidently. We didn't really watch much tv at all, videos were limited and we weren't watching nature shows about giraffes where you learn those things. I do not remember owning a book about giraffes either. I was always kind of jealous that she had a past life memory and I didn't. I would try to remember things that weren't in this life. Try to see if things gave me visions of another time. None of that resulted in anything.
I have never tried to draw a real looking giraffe that wasn't just a sketch. I ended up doing a googol image search and drawing about 5 real giraffe drawings based on clip art. I chose the one seen above.
I wasn't sure how the girl should be standing I made a lot of ideas until I finally liked one enough to color it in. I finally just ended up standing how I thought I would if I was being a giraffe, and went with that idea.
Well, I guess I knocked over my india ink while I assembled the girl and the giraffe onto the scrapbooking paper this morning. I had a decent size stack of lists and rough drafts and ideas and they were all saturated with ink. I kept a few where the ink added an element to the image.
This one is kind of spooky.
