weekend

On Sunday I went to my folks. Saturday was my Fathers birthday. My Mother made a 7 layer german chocolate cake. The cake is in that beautiful cake box.

My Grandmother had me pick up some special groceries for my Father. Nice lemon curd and a meyer lemon (my Grandmother had the most beautiful meyer lemon tree, I picked the orangest lemon, my Grandmothers favorite kind. She misses her tree - she said a half serious "I weep for my lemon tree…" while we discussed lemons)

The view from my folks kitchen table. Such a wonderful yard thawing and waiting for spring!

I found this old note today while going through some old letters and pictures.

I bought a bag of 400+ tiny googlie eyes. They are going to get on all kinds of things, I am starting with recipe cards.

The sun was so intense while I was on my evening walk.

shake this cold

I have a cold. I hate my cold. It is a roller coaster of feeling like a person and feeling like all I should do is crawl in bed and sleep. My head is stuffy, I'm a booger factory. I try to avoid regular cvs type cold medicine and stick with the hippy dippy stuff, so far so good. The bug seems on its way to leaving.

Because I felt crummy and we were staffed great for the evening, I left work early… again. I really should have just called in on Wednesday and slept all day trying to fight the cold so it didn't stick around. Usually the early sick symptoms are on days off and I can fight and sleep and beat it, oh well. So now I am battling it day by day.

Here are some things I saw on my walk today…

This is a mystery picture.  I am thinking it may be from while on the bus this morning (on accident).

This is a dead bird with no head.

It was so sunny and so beautiful outside (if you don't look at the ground… but watch the ground, there is dog shit everywhere!)

Someone had a broken car window at the crosswalk. The little blue glass cubes looked like treasure glistening in the sun. I could not capture this in a picture.

I love this tree.

This snowy courtyard was also glistening in the sun. I also could not capture that in a picture. BUT you can see that the sun was really there!

walking home

I try to say hello to people I pass who look receptive. If we make eye contact I will say hello to you 98% of the time.
While walking home I passed an older man with a big bushy beard. I said Hello, he sad Hi, and then after passing each other he said Goodbye. Well! That was a new one.

it is march

The snow keeps melting, and then it snows all over again. I love it. I love the chill, the bite of a cold wind and how gd beautiful everything is in a fresh white blanket of frozen water crystals.

This is the park by my house. I took this picture yesterday when I went for a dusk walk. Those are the best kind of walks. The park has some water pumps. I do not know if this pump works. I don't think it does. The pump I use is pretty much on the other corner. The water is delicious and mineraly.

This is the short south hallway at work. I was getting my phone ready to take a picture in the compressor room and decided to snap this one on the way. It is such a familiar view, I walk past this mirror and these sad sad carts many many times a week. Hopefully in 8-10 weeks we will have new carts and the sad sad cart row will be a thing of the past. Maybe the hall will get a makeover too? I thought I should document this common sight for me.

These scissors were at knitting/craft club tonight. They are great scissors. But they are weird. They bring two questions up...
A) why are the blades so short/that interesting shape?
B) why is there an adjustable screw?

This is one of my favorite intersections I walk through on my way home. I have a feeling these businesses may not be there forever (condo takeover).

I am going to try to post more regularly on here. I will share pictures that I take that aretn't going to get put on't on Instagram or Facebook.
