its here!

spring is here. my shamrocks are pretty happy and the sun is looking so good coming through my HOT pink curtains!

peanut shells

here is the building with the peanut shells. i took this with my phone, so it doesn't really capture it as well as i had hoped to.

mashed POTATO SALAD

To make this you need:

-salt
-pepper
-4 largish red potatoes
-prepared horseradish
-lemon juice
-plain yogurt
-cayenne
-paprika
-garlic powder/granules (if you have a garlic press, use that)

I got some free red potatoes at work today, and some free yogurt. Time to invent something as I make it!

I cut up and boiled 4 large red potatoes, in salter water.
When they were tender I drained them and ran them under cold water for a bit.
I returned the potatoes pieces to the pot and added some salt and pepper. I stirred them around.
I added some paprika, cayenne, and garlic and stirred them around again.
Then I added a few scoops of yogurt (how creamy do you want this to be? decide now), about 2 teaspoons of prepared (Bubbies) horseradish, and a dash of lemon juice. I stirred that around and then grabbed my masher and mashed that s up.

It has a kick (!), it is a pretty coral color and I'm sure if I mashed it up more, it would be a nice sandwich spread, or dip.

spring is damn near here

Oh, spring. I wish i didn't have this cold because I am sure that the air is 100% love weather. Love weather is when the air has that nice smell and you can wear sweaters and you just love everything. The birds, the puddles, even gross things like melty dog poo and trash mountains the melting snow leaves behind seem less awful.
There is an amazing peanut shell collection on the side of a building at 19th street and 1st ave (south side of 19th). It has become more and more amazing as the snow melts. I like to imagine that on the top floor a man is sitting at his window eating shelled peanuts and just throwing the shells out of the window. I will try and get a picture. The wild animals of stevens square have been taking the shells away and dispersing them around the street so it is losing its magnificence.

back. back. back.

whew, its been almost a year!

today i made a huge glass of grapefruit juice from 2 huge red grapefruits. it was so delicious. i wish i had more grapefruits for tomorrow morning, but i don't. i made a hot pink liner for the doily lamp cover i have. it looks really nice with my hot pink curtains. i think i need to make some more hot pink stuff, seeing how it has become my new "bed room" accent color.
