the amazing things i can do.

did you know you can break your chain ring? i guess if i would have thought about it, i would have known you could... but i never thought about it, so oh boy, was i surprised. i have been a huge baby about riding my bike this winter. i now always have a bus card and take the bus alot. i decided it was time to start riding again. i bundled up and hopped on for my ride. everything was going so smoothly, i was peddling down 26th and portland was coming up. it was a yellow light turning red quickly, there was a car a block away and i decided to go for it (not safe). i was about 10 feet into the intersection and then suddenly i couldn't pedal... but i was still moving... and i ride a fixed gear... WTF. thank god i have a break, i slammed that break and hopped off dragging my bike back to the corner. well, the chain was off, so i thought i broke that. BUT IT WASNT BROKEN. then i realized what i did do...






i have no idea what happened. well, i have some ideas. but i still dont get it. oh well. i will fix it and be riding again soon. in the last two years my luck has gone like this...

-broken chain ring
-stuck/stiff/frozen headset
-broken bottom bracket
-snapped chain while riding
-broken axel twice (this one lasted a few weeks because it seemed fine and then would freeze up while i was riding and my wheel wouldnt turn. i was so mad. i couldnt even roll my bike down the sidewalk, i had to carry it. i was carrying it down lake street, running late to get to a show, and then critical mass rides past me and is yelling about bikes and ride your bike. i started crying i was so pissed. this was my most hated broken bike problem.)
