In case you missed these

I did the boards with the prices. I was pretty happy with them. Here they are.

here is the only non-blury closer one I have.

Need a sign made? Let me know.

cutest shopping list

I found this gem in the parking lot at work last week.
what do they need to buy? top one (with the cutest R ever) I'm pretty sure is blueberries. The second one maybe cuties, like Toffutti Cuties? Not sure about the 3rd one. The Last item I am quite sure is bananas.

make a box

I wanted to make a box for a gift. I looked up different box templates and found this page(gdpackaging). I made the last one, the one with a heart on top.

I did not print anything out, I just eyeballed the it and sketched out the idea in pencil, then went over it measuring it with a ruler, and then drew it in pen.

then I cut it out and scored the folds.

Then I taped the seams and put it together.

pin cushion

rough draft, more details later.

for now you get these incredibly bad cellphone pictures. I don't understand what causes that line/brightness/color difference. Boo.

scissors

fabric (I used 2 layers of cotton, cut in a circle or something like a circle)

nice strong thread and a good sharp strong needle

stitch around the edges, then gather

fill with batting and pull the thread tight and reinforce the stitches

I like to make an indent on the bottom. you can keep it or cut it later (knead the ball the string ends disappear)

I like to try and make them as tight as possible. Maybe similar to truing a wheel, making it as even and tight all around.

I made another smaller less filled yoyo ball thing, attached it to the larger one then sewed pearls all around where they meet. (the needle I was using was about the same size if not larger than the space in the beads, so the pliers were needed) After attaching the pearls I put some acrylic glaze on the pearls and string there and let it dry.

HERE IT IS. Crummy picture, but awesome dense pin cushion.

some drawings by a wee me

My Grandma sent me another amazing package of crafting supplies and inspiration. In the the box were some laminated drawings I made as a teensy kid. The back of the drawings were labled "Katie 1987". I was 4.

A house. Windows with panes, a door knob, I think that is a weathervane on the roof.
A baby. I loooooved drawing babies. Pupils, ear detail, clothing pattern, nostrils, kind of a crazy amount of weird detail. Also, the colors. Did I have limited marker selection or did I choose this? There was a 4th picture that was a christmas tree drawn in baby blue and yellow. I don't know why I didn't use those colors in these. But it must have been christmas time.

Woah, crazy boat party. So much funny detail. I guess it makes sense though.

I need to find and document more old pictures I made, this is only the tip of the iceburg.
